Can I use my Apple SuperDrive or an external CD/DVD drive with this docking station?
No, the USB-A ports on this docking station are designed for data transfer and charging only. They do not support optical disc drives like the Apple SuperDrive.
Can I connect a monitor using one of the USB-C ports on the dock?
No. Please note that none of the USB-C or USB-A ports on the docking station support video output. The only video output port is the dedicated HDMI 2.0 port.
I connected a new SSD to the dock, but my computer doesn't recognize it. What should I do?
If your SSD is new, it may need to be formatted first. We recommend formatting the new SSD to either "exFAT" (for compatibility with both Mac and Windows) or "APFS" (for Mac-only use) using your computer's Disk Utility tool before use.
Can I use the USB ports to charge my devices and output video at the same time?
The USB ports support high-speed data transfer and charging, but they do not support video output. Video is handled exclusively by the HDMI port. Charging and data transfer will function independently of the video output.

Well made and will last a lifetime, probably longer than the computer attached to it. Ports work well enough and the ability to add an m.2 drive into the base is a bonus
This is a great way to add second monitor output and an external SSD for added storage and backup. It also doubles as a desktop vertical mount to hold the computer on its side while it is connected. I actually like the look and how it uses less space on my desktop.
I had the 8-in-1 version of this and thought highly of it; everything I said about that one still holds:
This is great when you have a Mac mini with limited internal storage (I have an M4 mini with only 256 GB of internal storage) and don't want to have an external drive just laying loose on your desk. This allows you to have quick NVMe storage without taking up any more desk space as a normal external drive would.
Like with its predecessor, I get about 8Gbps speeds reading from and writing to the installed NVMe drive (I used a Western Digital 1TB Blue SN580). Note that, because this is limited by the10 Gbps connection to the Mac, you can use less expensive gen3 NVMe drives.

Connecting 2 external drives, camera, monitor, mic - don't know how I would have done all that without this hub. Haven't even installed extra internal drive. Like the way it sits on desk.

So far, so good! The aluminum construction is nice. No sharp edges, visually matches the Mac Mini, etc... The ports work fine. The SSD slot includes a heat-pad to connect to the door as a heat-sink. I saw someone dropped a 1-star review complaining about the door being there as if the reduced airflow will hurt the SSD. In reality, it is better to use the aluminum enclosure as a heatsink to draw heat away. No complaints. You can pick up any number of adapters for half the price, but if you want an SSD and all the ports, you'll land roughly here again.
It was setup easy. Two TB storage really increases ability to save trip and family videos. Everything works. Can't wait to download cruise videos/photos to edit on Imovie with new 4Mini Mac.
